Day 3 & 4 in Florence - Packing in the Sights and the Gelato!

After promising each other to take it slow and just savor Florence, we power-packed Saturday and Sunday with a plethora of sightseeing and probably walked 10 miles! Thanks to Rick Steves and some pre-trip research we've had lovely meals each day (and burned them off too!) The weather continues to be unseasonably warm in the high 80's. Great Gelato weather, or so that is my excuse for daily consumption!

Cloister at monastery - San Marco

The bustling Market

Our lunch at Osteria Vini e Vecchi - yummy

The cars get smaller every year!

Even the horses dine well in Florence

We marvel at the global influence of the MN State Fair - Gelato on a stick!

Even the crowd looks rather State-Fairish!

Peter poses with the Pitti Palace and Boboli Gardens in the background - quite the climb!

June makes friends with a Garden Guardian Cane

June pushes the Duomo's button - hey, it's our only kitschy photo so far. And what a view (and climb) from the Plaza Michelangelo!

View through the gates of San Miniato

Wonderful medieval interior of San Miniato church c. 1100

Ponte Vecchio in late afternoon sun

Ponte Vecchio after awesome dinner at Trattoria 4

Tomorrow (Monday) we will take a tour bus to the Cinque Terra for a day trip of hiking between these gorgeous villages. Ciao for now!
